This intelligent, patriotic woman took advantage of her skills, experience and physical attributes to boldly serve her country in a way most women would never dream of. Her unique contribution to the Continental Army during the Revolutionary War resulted in her being named the official Heroine of the State of Massachusetts by Governor Michael J. Dukakis in 1983.
